Events

AMPRA sponsors a biennial conference, which is held in the fall of even-numbered years. The first conference was held in Charlotte, NC in 2012 and was hosted by the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. More information about past and upcoming conferences can be found under the 'Conferences' sub-menu.

Membership dues are used to fund Graduate Student Conference Travel Awards. In 2022, we selected eight students who each received a travel award of $500. See the list of award-winners below. For AMPRA-6 in 2024 we again plan to award up to eight $500 travel grants. Details for applying for these awards can be found on the CFP for the conferences in question.

Money collected from membership dues is also used to sponsor events in off-years (i.e., odd-numbered years). For example, in November 2021, Executive Board member Dr. Alejandro Parini from the University of Belgrano in Argentina, hosted a 2-day online AMPRA symposium. In 2023 the members of the AMPRA Graduate Student Council hosted an online workshop on Experimental Pragmatics.
