The 4th International Conference of the American Pragmatics Association (AMPRA) will take place at the uptown campus of the State University of New York at Albany (1400 Washtington Avenue, Albany, NY 12206). As the capital city of New York state, Albany is the economic and cultural core in the capital district. It is renowned for its history, culture, architecture, and higher education. SUNY Albany uptown campus is within reaching distance of many parks, national sights, historical landmarks, and about 50 hotels.

 From Albany International Airport to SUNY Albany uptown campus:

Albany International Airport (ALB) ( is the only airport in Albany. It locates to the north of Albany city, which is a major air center. The airport is about 20-minute drive from and to the city of Albany. Albany International airport offers a wide variety of convenient and economical choices to get to and from the airport.

Option 1: Hotel Shuttle Bus

Albany Hotel Shuttles offer both pick-up and drop-off service in the Commercial Lane located directly across from the terminal at Albany International Airport. The Lodging and Transportation Center located in Baggage Claim provides travelers with direct phone lines to area hotels and shuttles.

The following hotels in Albany city provide shuttle service to and from the Albany International Airport. Please be advised that many of the hotels that provide shuttle service may not be within walking distance to the conference venu, that is, SUNY uptown campus.

Option 2: Bus Service

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA, provides service to and from the Albany International Airport. The CDAT buses are equipped with electronic fare box, which do not make change. Please have your fare ready in the exact amount (1.5 for each ride).

 Option 3: Taxi

Travelers arriving at Albany International Airport are served by Capitaland Taxi, more than 50 additional local and regional cab companies, Lyft.

CAPITALAND TAXI: Capialand Taxi is the contact cab company serving Albany International Airport. The Capitaland Taxi stand is located across from the Terminal in the Commercial Lane. The Capitaland starter will direct individuals to the next waiting cab. Please be advised that meters are not used, and the charge is determined per person per zone crossed en route to your destination.

LYFT: Lyft service is available at Albany International Airport. Lyft service is accessed by using the Lyft App on cell phones. Lyft drivers are stationed near the terminal.

UBER: Uber is NOT permitted to serve the Albany International Airport. The Albany County Airport Authority requires its tenants and vendors to provide third-party verification of their activity at the Airport.

 Option 4: Car Rental

Albany International Airport’s Rental Car Reservation Counters are located in the Baggage Claim area of the terminal. The rental car fleet is located inside the Airport Parking Garage.

All automobile rentals at Albany International Airport are subject to an Airport fee. This fee also applies to automobile reservations made through airline web sites.







From New York City to SUNY Albany Uptown Campus:

The driving distance from NYC to Albany is about 150 miles. New York city has three international airports:

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK):

LaGuardia Airport (LGA) :

Newark Airport (EWR):

For those who fly to New York City, there are several ways that you can get to Albany:

Option 1: JFK, Newark, LaGuardia Shuttle-Premiere Transportation

Premiere Transportation offers daily shuttle serviced between Albany International Airport and three New York City area Airports including JFK, LaGuardia and Newark.  Option 2: By train

You can take a train from NYC to get to Albany (Rensselaer Rail Station), NY.

Rensselaer Rail Station is located 1.5 miles from downtown Albany cross the Hudson River. The station is 8.9 miles away from our uptown campus. Rensselaer Rail Station is served by Amtrak’s Empire Corridor routes, including the Lake Shore Limited, whose Boston and New York branches diverge at the station.

Option 3: City Bus

Adirondack Trailways offers buses from New York City and throughout New York State to the UAlbany Campus. Tickets can be purchased online at www.trailwaysny. com. Passengers can also select “Albany SUNY, NY” as the destination.

Greyhound buses serve most of the state with express and local buses. Greyhound tickets can be purchased online at The Albany Bus Terminal is located at 34 Hamilton Street.
